Some Richmond Sewer Rates to Rise 25 Percent in 4 Years

Starting next July, sewer rates for residents within the Richmond Municipal Sewer District will go up 5 percent annually until July 2014.  In 2006, Baykeeper filed a lawsuit stating that the city of Richmond had been spilling hundreds of thousands of gallons of raw sewage into the bay every year.
